Mumbai University has announced a new examination guideline requiring students to report to the exam hall at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time, effective from the 2026-27 academic session. This directive, which applies to all university examinations, aims to streamline the examination process and ensure that necessary pre-examination procedures are completed efficiently.
The decision was made by the Examination and Evaluation Board, Management Council, and Academic Council, and has been communicated to directors and heads of university departments, as well as principals of affiliated and autonomous colleges. The university noted that many students tend to arrive just before the exam begins, which often leads to delays in essential verification processes.
To facilitate a smoother examination experience, the additional 30-minute window will allow for identity card verification, seating arrangements, attendance checks, and other mandatory formalities. For instance, if an exam is scheduled for 10:30 AM, students must arrive by 10:00 AM. This new policy is designed to minimize disruptions and ensure that all students are settled before the examination commences.
In light of this new requirement, the university has instructed all educational institutions to inform students, faculty, and examination staff about the revised reporting times. Colleges are expected to implement this rule immediately for the upcoming examinations in the 2026-27 academic year, emphasizing the importance of adherence to these guidelines.
Mumbai University has also urged students to cooperate with invigilators and examination staff to facilitate a smooth examination process. Those taking undergraduate, postgraduate, and other university examinations are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly, ensuring they arrive at their designated examination centers well before the new reporting time to avoid any last-minute issues.
