NLSIU Invites Applications for Research Fellowship Programmes Starting January 2027

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru has officially announced the commencement of the application process for its various research fellowship programmes. The university is inviting scholars and professionals to apply for the Graduate Research Fellowship, the NLSIU Postdoctoral Fellowship, and the University Research Fellowship, all of which are scheduled to begin in January 2027.

These fellowship initiatives are designed to foster advanced research across a range of disciplines, including law, public policy, social sciences, and other allied fields. By offering these positions, the university aims to support researchers at different stages of their academic and professional journeys. Eligibility Criteria and Fellowship Details

Each of the three fellowship programmes carries distinct eligibility requirements tailored to the applicant's experience level. For the Graduate Research Fellowship, candidates are expected to hold a graduate degree in law or a postgraduate degree in social sciences, public policy, or a related discipline. The NLSIU Postdoctoral Fellowship is open to individuals who have earned a PhD in law, social sciences, public policy, or allied fields within the last three years, provided they have not previously held a postdoctoral position at another institution.

For the more senior University Research Fellowship, applicants must possess a recognised PhD and demonstrate at least 10 years of relevant professional or teaching experience. Additionally, candidates for this fellowship are required to provide evidence of a strong publication record. The university has also outlined the starting monthly remuneration for these roles: INR 50,000 for the Graduate Research Fellowship, INR 1,20,000 for the Postdoctoral Fellowship, and INR 2,00,000 for the University Research Fellowship.

Campus Presence and Selection Process

Successful candidates will generally be expected to be present on the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru for the duration of their fellowship. However, the university has indicated that it may consider requests for flexibility regarding physical presence on the campus on a case-by-case basis.
