The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the examination schedule for the upcoming UGC NET December 2026 session. According to the latest notification, the examination is set to be conducted over a six-day period, starting from December 14 and concluding on December 19, 2026. This assessment serves as a critical gateway for candidates aiming to qualify for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) positions, secure appointments as Assistant Professors, or gain admission into various PhD programmes.

The examination will be held in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. Candidates are required to appear for the test specifically on the date and during the shift assigned to them in their official documentation. To ensure flexibility in the examination process, the NTA has also designated December 20 and December 21, 2026, as buffer dates. These additional days are reserved to accommodate any potential requirements for conducting the examination beyond the primary schedule.

Examination Logistics and Admit Card Details

As the examination dates approach, the NTA will provide further logistical details through the official UGC NET portal. Candidates can expect the release of an examination city intimation slip, which will allow them to identify their allotted test city in advance. This slip is intended to assist students in making necessary travel and accommodation arrangements. It is important to note that the city intimation slip is distinct from the final admit card and does not grant entry to the examination hall.

The official admit card, which will be released separately, will contain essential information, including the specific examination centre, the assigned shift, the reporting time, and the candidate's personal details. The NTA will also issue comprehensive guidelines regarding permitted items, reporting protocols, and other examination-day instructions. Candidates are strongly advised to monitor the official website at ugcnet.nta.nic.in regularly to stay updated on the release of these documents and any further announcements regarding the December 2026 session.
