The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially extended the application deadline for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET December 2026 examination. Prospective candidates now have until November 9, 2026, at 11:50 PM to complete their submissions. This extension allows applicants to finalize their registration, upload necessary documentation, and process their examination fees without incurring any late penalties.
This decision comes as the NTA monitors the progress of the current application cycle. According to the latest data released by the testing body on November 6, 2026, the examination has seen significant interest, with a total of 236,656 registrations recorded. Of these applicants, 198,479 have successfully paid the required examination fee, a figure that remains subject to final bank reconciliation.
The NTA has provided a detailed breakdown of the current application status to assist candidates in understanding the remaining steps. While 236,656 individuals have initiated the registration process, the data shows that 203,973 candidates have uploaded their images, and 202,768 have submitted their completed application forms. Furthermore, 195,034 candidates have already downloaded their confirmation pages, indicating they have successfully finalized their participation for the upcoming test.
For those who have yet to complete their registration, the NTA has outlined a clear procedure to ensure all formalities are met before the new deadline. Candidates must visit the official website at csirnet.nta.nic.in to access the application portal. Those who have not yet registered must first create an account using their personal and contact information. Existing users can log in using their previously generated application number and password to complete the remaining sections of the form.
The application process requires candidates to provide accurate academic and personal details, upload mandatory documents such as photographs and signatures, and complete the fee payment. The NTA emphasizes that the extension is intended to support those who were unable to finalize their applications under the original schedule. Candidates are encouraged to utilize this additional time to ensure all information is correct and that their confirmation page is successfully downloaded, as this serves as proof of a completed application.
