
The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Chennai, has officially released the schedule for the second round of Tamil Nadu NEET UG 2026 counselling. Candidates seeking admission to MBBS and BDS programs across the state can now participate in the registration and fee payment process, which opened on September 7, 2026.
This phase of the counselling process is open to eligible candidates aiming for seats in government medical and dental colleges, as well as management quota seats in self-financing institutions. The process also includes placements for the ESIC Medical College in K.K. Nagar, Chennai, Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore, and various state private universities.
According to the official notification, the window for registration and fee payment for the second round will remain open until September 8, 2026, at 5 PM. Candidates who have already participated in the first round of counselling are advised to review the specific conditions set by the Selection Committee regarding the necessity of fresh registration.
Following the registration phase, the choice filling and locking process is scheduled to take place from September 9 to September 13, 2026, closing at 2 PM. The processing of virtual vacancies is slated for September 9, followed by the seat allotment processing on September 14. The final seat allotment results for the second round are expected to be published on September 15, 2026. Successful candidates will be able to download their provisional allotment orders between September 15 and September 18, with the final deadline for joining their respective institutions set for September 18, 2026.
The second round of counselling is restricted to candidates falling within the notified rank and NEET score ranges. For the Government Quota (GQ), the eligibility covers General Ranks from 001 to 35,926, corresponding to NEET scores between 705 and 177. For the Management Quota (MQ), the eligible range includes General Ranks from 001 to 26,956, with NEET scores ranging from 693 to 177.
To participate, candidates must visit the official website at tnmedicalselection.net. The application process involves navigating to the MBBS and BDS admissions portal, completing the new registration, filling out the application form, uploading the required documentation, and paying the registration fee of INR 500. Candidates are encouraged to monitor the official portal regularly for any further updates or changes to the schedule as the counselling process progresses.
