The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has officially opened the application process for private candidates seeking attendance exemption for the upcoming Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) scheduled for March 2027. Candidates who intend to appear for these examinations as private students must complete their registration through the board's official portal at tgbie.cgg.gov.in no later than October 31, 2026.

To secure this exemption, applicants are required to pay a fee of INR 500. The board has explicitly stated that this fee is non-refundable and will not be adjusted under any circumstances, even if a candidate is subsequently determined to be ineligible to sit for the March 2027 examinations. Consequently, students are strongly advised to thoroughly review all eligibility criteria and documentation requirements before initiating the online application process.

Application Requirements and Eligibility Criteria

The TGBIE has emphasized that all applications must be submitted with complete and accurate documentation. Required materials may include original qualifying examination certificates, Transfer Certificates (TC), Migration Certificates, and, where applicable, Eligibility Certificates. The board has issued a clear warning that any applications found to be incomplete or lacking the necessary supporting documents will be summarily rejected without further notice or correspondence.

For students who completed their SSC or an equivalent examination from a board other than the Telangana SSC Board, obtaining an Eligibility Certificate from the TGBIE is mandatory. A scanned copy of this certificate must be uploaded during the online application process. Furthermore, the board has outlined specific rules regarding academic gaps: candidates with a one-year gap since their qualifying exam are eligible to appear only for the first-year Intermediate exams. Those with a gap of two years or more are permitted to appear for both first-year and second-year examinations during the same session.

Provisions for Subject Changes and Additional Subjects

The attendance exemption facility also extends to candidates looking to modify their academic path. Students who have previously failed their second-year Intermediate exams and wish to transition from Science to Arts or Humanities, or those seeking to change faculties within the Arts and Humanities stream, must apply for the exemption by the October 31 deadline.

Additionally, the board has provided pathways for students wishing to pursue additional subjects. Candidates who have already successfully completed both years of the Intermediate course may apply to take a second language as an additional subject. Similarly, students who have passed the IPE with a Biology, Physics, and Chemistry (BPC) group and wish to add Mathematics as an additional subject are also eligible to apply under these provisions. All candidates are encouraged to monitor the official TGBIE website for any further updates regarding the examination process.
