Tentative Allotment for Round 3 of TNEA 2026 Counselling Released; Seat Confirmation Deadline is Tomorrow

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) in Tamil Nadu has announced the tentative seat allotment for Round 3 of the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026. Released on August 21, this allotment allows candidates who participated in the third and final round of counselling to check their assigned seats via the official TNEA website, tneaonline.org. This round specifically caters to candidates with government general ranks ranging from 18,037 to 46,080 and aggregate marks between 135.5 and 77.500.

The allotment process is based on a combination of candidates' ranks, their submitted preferences during counselling, and the availability of seats following previous rounds. Those who have been allotted a seat must confirm their acceptance by completing the necessary steps in the counselling process by August 22, 2026, at 5 PM. The confirmation window opened today and will close tomorrow, making it crucial for candidates to act promptly.

Candidates have several options available to them on the TNEA portal. They can choose to accept the allotted seat, accept the seat while opting for upward movement, decline the allotment while still opting for upward movement, or withdraw from the counselling process altogether. It is essential for candidates to select their preferred option within the stipulated deadline, as failing to do so may hinder their ability to participate in subsequent counselling stages.

According to the official TNEA 2026 schedule, the provisional allotment for candidates who accept and join, as well as the tentative allotment for those opting for upward movement, will be published on August 23. The joining and reporting process for candidates who accept their allotment will take place from August 23 to August 27, between 10 AM and 5 PM. Additionally, the provisional allotment for candidates who choose upward movement is set for August 31.

As the counselling process progresses, candidates are encouraged to stay informed about important dates and updates related to their admissions.
