UGC NET 2026: NTA Issues Travel Advisory for Delhi Candidates Ahead of BRICS Summit

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a formal travel advisory for candidates scheduled to appear for the UGC NET 2026 re-examinations at centres within Delhi. With the 18th BRICS Summit set to take place at Bharat Mandapam from September 11 to 13, 2026, extensive security measures are being implemented across the national capital, which may impact local traffic flow.

Although the designated examination centres are not located in the immediate vicinity of the summit venue, the NTA has cautioned that security-related traffic management and potential route diversions could cause delays on connecting roads. Candidates sitting for the English and Commerce papers on September 9, 2026, are specifically urged to account for these conditions when planning their commute to ensure they arrive on time.

Travel Precautions and Exam Schedule

To mitigate the risk of missing the start of their examinations, the NTA has recommended that students plan their routes well in advance and allow for extra travel time. Candidates are encouraged to monitor the latest traffic updates provided by the Delhi Traffic Police and other relevant authorities before departing for their centres. It is essential that all examinees adhere strictly to the reporting times specified on their official admit cards, as last-minute travel delays could compromise their ability to sit for the test.

The current re-examination schedule includes three subjects spanning two days. The English paper is slated for the first shift on September 9, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the Commerce paper in the second shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Sociology paper is scheduled for September 10, 2026, during the first shift from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
