The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced an extension for the application submission deadline for the University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) December 2026 session. Prospective candidates who have not yet completed their registration now have additional time to submit their forms, with the new deadline set for October 31, 2026.

According to the latest notification issued by the testing body, the application portal will remain accessible until 11:50 PM on the revised closing date. This extension provides a brief window for those who missed the previous cutoff of October 28 to finalise their submissions. All interested individuals are required to complete the registration process exclusively through the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

Application Details and Examination Schedule

In addition to the registration extension, the NTA has confirmed that the window for fee payment will also remain open until October 31. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review their personal and academic details carefully before final submission to ensure accuracy. Following the conclusion of the application process, the NTA will open a correction window from November 2 to November 4, allowing candidates to rectify any errors in their submitted forms.

The UGC NET December 2026 examination is slated to take place between December 14 and December 18, with an additional testing date on December 21. The assessment will be conducted in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across various examination centres nationwide. As the primary gateway for determining eligibility for the roles of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) within Indian higher education institutions, the exam remains a critical milestone for thousands of scholars.

Candidates are advised to monitor the official NTA and UGC NET websites regularly for further announcements, including the release of admit cards and specific shift timings. Ensuring that all documents are uploaded in the prescribed format remains a mandatory requirement for a successful application.
