The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially commenced the registration process for the UGC NET December 2026 examination. Aspiring candidates aiming to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), secure eligibility for Assistant Professor positions, or pursue PhD admissions are invited to submit their applications through the official NTA portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

The application window is currently active, and candidates are advised to complete their registration by the primary deadline of October 28, 2026. For those who may miss this initial cutoff, the NTA has provided a late application window, though applicants will be required to pay an additional fee of INR 500 to finalize their submission.

Application Requirements and Document Specifications

Before initiating the online registration process, candidates are encouraged to review the official information bulletin available on the website. To ensure a smooth application experience, applicants should have all necessary personal and educational documentation readily available. This includes details regarding postgraduate qualifications, marks, and university information, as well as a valid email address and mobile number for all future correspondence.

The NTA has established specific technical requirements for the documents that must be uploaded during the application process. A recent passport-sized photograph, which can be in either color or black and white, must be between 10 KB and 200 KB in size. The photograph should feature a white background, with 80 percent of the face visible, including the ears, and must not include a mask. Additionally, a scanned image of the candidate's signature is required, with a file size ranging from 10 KB to 50 KB. For candidates submitting a disability or UDID certificate, the document must be uploaded as a PDF file, also within the 10 KB to 50 KB size range.

Steps to Complete the Registration

To apply for the December 2026 session, candidates should navigate to the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in and locate the link for the UGC NET December Application Form. New users must first select the 'New Registration' option to generate their login credentials.
