WBJEE 2026 Decentralised Counselling Notification Released: Eligibility and Process Details

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has officially released the notification for the decentralised counselling process for the 2026 academic session. This phase of counselling is designed to facilitate the filling of vacant seats across participating institutes within the state. Eligibility Categories and Allotment Criteria

The WBJEEB has established a structured classification system to determine candidate eligibility for the decentralised counselling process. Applicants will be automatically categorised through the online portal based on their credentials. Category I includes West Bengal domiciled candidates with WBJEE ranks eligible for reserved seats in government or private colleges, while Category II covers domiciled candidates with WBJEE ranks seeking admission to government institutions. Category III consists of WBJEE rank holders who are not domiciled in West Bengal and are eligible for state and private college seats. Category IV is reserved for JEE Main rank holders, and Category V includes candidates evaluated based on their 10+2 examination marks in accordance with AICTE guidelines.

It is important to note that candidates who have already participated in the centralised WBJEE 2026 counselling—including those for Pharmacy—and have successfully accepted a seat and completed their admission process are ineligible for this decentralised round. For those who qualify, a one-time registration fee of INR 250 is required. The board has clarified that while fresh registrations and choice filling will be permitted for each phase, the system will not consider an order of preference. Instead, all selected choices will be treated as an unordered set during the seat allotment process. The priority for seat allocation will follow a specific hierarchy: WBJEE rank, followed by JEE Main rank, and finally, the marks obtained in the 10+2 qualifying examination.
