
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has officially released its placement report for the 2025-26 academic session, highlighting a robust recruitment cycle. The institute successfully secured 1,340 on-campus placement offers, alongside 364 six-month internship opportunities for its students. This year’s placement drive saw participation from 374 recruiters, with nearly 50 percent of these companies visiting the campus for the first time.
The recruitment process attracted a wide array of industry leaders, reflecting the diverse academic disciplines offered at the institute. Students were placed in various professional roles, including Software Engineer, Software Development Engineer, Hardware Engineer, Graduate Trainee Engineer, Data Analyst, and Business Analyst. Notable recruiters participating in the drive included major industry players such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Reliance Industries, Larsen & Toubro, JSW Group, Vedanta Resources, ICICI Bank, and Texas Instruments, among others.
According to the official report, the Software and IT Services sector emerged as the leading recruiter, accounting for 17.79 percent of the total hiring. This was followed by the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector at 11.52 percent. Other significant contributors included the Electronics sector at 8.40 percent, Manufacturing at 8.09 percent, and the Education sector at 7.23 percent.
Academic performance across various engineering branches remained strong throughout the season. Six BTech branches—Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering—achieved a collective placement rate of 95.47 percent. Furthermore, six additional programs, including Civil Engineering, Biotechnology, and Electronics and Communication Engineering, maintained placement rates exceeding 90 percent.
Beyond full-time placements, the institute saw significant activity regarding internships. Students selected for the six-month internship programs have the potential to receive Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) based on their performance during the tenure. Additionally, the institute reported an all-time high of 258 summer internship offers for pre-final year students, with the highest monthly stipend reaching Rs 1.50 lakh.
The salary packages offered during the 2025-26 session also demonstrated strong outcomes for the student body. The report indicates that more than 83 students successfully secured annual compensation packages exceeding INR 30 lakh. These figures underscore the continued demand for graduates from the institute across both technical and analytical domains as the placement season concludes.
