WBJEE 2026 Decentralised Counselling: Phase 1 Registration Deadline Extended

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has officially extended the registration deadline for the first phase of the WBJEE 2026 decentralised counselling process. Candidates who were previously unable to complete their applications now have until September 9 at 6 PM to finalise their registration and choice filling. This adjustment comes in response to widespread reports of technical challenges encountered by students during the initial window, which was originally scheduled to close on September 8.

Many applicants had raised concerns regarding difficulties in receiving the necessary One-Time Password (OTP) required for the registration process. Furthermore, some students reported issues when attempting to submit their preferred college and course selections. In light of these technical hurdles, the board decided to provide an extension to ensure all eligible candidates have a fair opportunity to participate in the decentralised counselling cycle.

Revised Schedule and Seat Allocation Details

Following the extension of the registration window, the WBJEEB has published a revised schedule for the subsequent stages of the Phase 1 counselling process. According to the updated timeline, the seat allocation list for Round 1 is now set to be announced on September 11 at 10:30 AM. The allocation of seats will be determined based on a candidate's merit rank, the specific choices submitted during the registration phase, and the overall availability of seats within the participating institutions.

Candidates are reminded that the choice-filling process requires careful attention, as they must select their preferred colleges and courses. For those who secure a seat, the process of confirmation involves the payment of a seat acceptance fee of INR 5,000. This fee is refundable and must be paid online via net banking, credit card, or debit card. The board has emphasised that failure to pay this fee will prevent students from proceeding with the admission confirmation process, effectively halting their progress in the current counselling round.

Important Guidelines for Candidates

As the counselling process moves forward, students are encouraged to monitor the official portal for any further updates or changes to the schedule. The board has also clarified specific requirements for admission into various courses. For students seeking admission into BTech programmes, it is mandatory to have attempted all sections of the examination, including Mathematics. Conversely, for those applying for BPharm admissions, the Mathematics section may be opted out.

With the registration deadline now set for September 9, candidates are advised to complete their submissions well before the 6 PM cutoff to avoid any last-minute technical complications.
