The official mock test window for the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2027 is now active. Candidates who successfully completed their registration by the August 27 deadline are eligible to participate in this practice session. The window remains open throughout the day, allowing registered students to log in to their candidate dashboards and take the test at their convenience until 11:59 pm tonight.
This official mock examination is designed to provide students with a realistic experience of the actual testing environment. By participating, candidates can gain familiarity with the online interface, navigation tools, and the overall structure of the exam. This practice is intended to help students build confidence and manage their time effectively before the final examination, which is scheduled to take place on January 3, 2027.
The mock test mirrors the format of the actual XAT 2027, ensuring that students are well-acquainted with the distribution of questions and the marking scheme. The examination consists of 95 questions divided into four distinct sections: Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge. Candidates are allotted a total of 180 minutes to complete the paper.
Regarding the marking criteria, the exam awards one mark for every correct answer. A penalty of 0.25 marks is applied for each incorrect response. Additionally, a specific penalty of 0.10 marks is deducted for every instance of more than eight consecutive un-attempted questions. Notably, the General Knowledge section does not carry any negative marking. Each question throughout the test provides five answer choices, and the examination is conducted in an online mode.
For those currently preparing for the entrance, the mock test serves as a diagnostic tool to assess their current proficiency and identify areas requiring further focus over the remaining four months of preparation. XLRI Jamshedpur, the conducting body, is expected to release additional mock tests in the coming months to further assist candidates in their preparation journey.
While the initial mock test window is currently open for those who registered by the August deadline, the broader registration process for XAT 2027 remains ongoing. Prospective candidates who have not yet applied have until December 6, 2026, to submit their registration forms and pay the required fees. Access to official mock tests is restricted to those who have completed the registration and payment process. Students are also encouraged to utilize available resources, such as the official XAT syllabus, to structure their study plans effectively.
