AICTE Partners with Nemetschek India to Establish AEC Centres of Excellence

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has officially entered into a strategic partnership with Nemetschek India Private Limited to enhance industry-academia collaboration. This initiative aims to better prepare students for the evolving demands of the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors by establishing dedicated Centres of Excellence across 10 AICTE-affiliated institutions.

By bridging the gap between traditional classroom learning and the practical requirements of modern employers, this collaboration seeks to equip students with industry-relevant expertise. The programme is specifically designed to target students pursuing civil engineering and related academic disciplines, providing them with the necessary tools to succeed in a competitive professional landscape.

Focus on Skill Development and Industry Readiness

The core of this initiative involves a comprehensive 50-hour, three-credit skilling programme. Through these newly established centres, more than 25,000 students are expected to undergo upskilling and reskilling training. The curriculum will place a significant emphasis on emerging technologies and practical methodologies currently shaping the construction and infrastructure industries, with a particular focus on Building Information Modelling (BIM).

By integrating these advanced practices into the academic framework, the AICTE and Nemetschek India intend to provide students with deeper exposure to real-world industry standards. This practical training is designed to improve overall employability, ensuring that graduates are well-versed in the technologies and workflows that are increasingly essential in the global AEC market.

Expansion of AICTE Research Initiatives

In addition to the AEC partnership, the AICTE has introduced the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellowship Programme (AIEDFP). This separate initiative is designed to foster research that focuses on innovation and the development of practical, real-world solutions.

The fellowship programme is backed by a proposed financial outlay of INR 245 crore, which is planned to be distributed over a five-year period. The initiative aims to support 150 PhD fellowships, further demonstrating the council's commitment to advancing research and academic excellence across technical institutions in the country.
