The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) has officially concluded the counselling process for the UGET 2026 academic session. Following the completion of four rounds of seat allocation, authorities have released the final vacancy report, revealing that 16,855 engineering seats across more than 150 participating institutions remain unfilled.

The counselling process, which was designed to fill approximately 24,000 engineering seats, has now reached its final stage. With the deadline for decision-making and reporting having passed, the focus has shifted to the final vacancy data, which highlights significant availability across various engineering disciplines and colleges.

Breakdown of Vacant Engineering Seats

Data released by the authorities indicates that computer-related programmes account for a substantial portion of the total vacancies. Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) leads the list with 4,375 vacant seats, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with 2,548 vacancies. Emerging fields also show notable availability, with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) reporting 1,491 vacant seats, while Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering show 1,236 and 969 vacancies, respectively.

The vacancy report further details availability in specialized computer science streams. This includes 925 seats in Information Science and Engineering, 908 seats in CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning), 634 seats in CSE (Data Science), and 476 seats in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. Additionally, Electrical and Electronics Engineering currently lists 747 vacant positions.

Institutional Vacancy Trends

The distribution of vacant seats varies significantly across the participating colleges. While many institutions have reported a high number of vacancies, some prominent colleges show limited availability. For instance, R V College of Engineering has reported minor vacancies, including 2 seats in CSE, 5 in CSE (AI & ML), 4 in CSE (Data Science), and 7 in Civil Engineering. Similarly, M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology has recorded vacancies in specific programmes, including Mechanical and Civil Engineering.

The current data suggests that while demand remains high for core computer science branches, a significant number of seats remain open across a wide spectrum of engineering disciplines. Candidates and stakeholders can review the comprehensive branch-wise vacancy list to understand the current landscape of engineering admissions in Karnataka for the 2026 academic year.
