While the registration timeline has been revised, the final deadline for submitting applications remains unchanged for the time being, though officials have indicated that further delays in the application window could potentially impact the closing date as well.

Preparation Guidelines for GATE 2027 Applicants

A significant change for this year's cycle is the mandatory integration of DigiLocker for all Indian nationals. Candidates are strongly encouraged to log into their DigiLocker accounts ahead of the registration launch to verify that all personal details are accurate and up to date. It is important to note that the photograph stored in a candidate's DigiLocker account will not be automatically used for the GATE application; instead, applicants will be required to upload a fresh, scanned photograph and complete a mandatory facial verification process during the registration phase.

To ensure a smooth application experience, candidates should prepare high-quality digital copies of their documents according to the specific requirements set by IIT Madras. The required documentation includes a valid government-issued photo identification, a scanned copy of the candidate's signature, and relevant category or PwD certificates, if applicable. Furthermore, applicants should familiarise themselves with the updated guidelines regarding two-paper combinations and the new provision that allows for the selection of up to six test cities.
