Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Introduces Online BBA and BCom Degree Programs

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has officially expanded its academic offerings by launching its first-ever online degree programs. The university is now accepting applications for its online Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) courses for the 2026 academic session. This initiative marks a significant shift for the institution as it moves to extend its reach beyond its physical campus in Dwarka to students across India.

The programs are being managed by the university's Centre for Distance and Online Education. According to the official announcement, the inaugural batch of classes for these online undergraduate degrees is scheduled to commence on September 15, 2026. The university released the official admission brochures on August 24, providing comprehensive details for prospective students interested in pursuing their education through a digital learning model.

Program Structure and Flexible Learning Options

A key feature of these new online courses is their adherence to the National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines. By incorporating a flexible entry and exit system, the university aims to accommodate the diverse needs of its student body, including working professionals and those who may face unforeseen financial or personal challenges during their studies. This structure allows students the option to exit the program early with a certificate or return at a later date to complete their full degree requirements.

Regarding the financial commitment, the university has set the tuition at INR 15,000 per semester for both the BBA and BCom programs, positioning them as an affordable option for distance learners. Vice-Chancellor Mahesh Verma highlighted the launch as a major milestone in the university's digital transformation strategy, noting that the institution intends to broaden its online portfolio in the near future. Plans are already underway to introduce additional programs, including a Master of Computer Applications (MCA), an MA in Mass Communication, and a postgraduate diploma in Healthcare Management.
