The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has officially released the results for the CA Intermediate September 2026 examination. A comparative analysis of the latest performance data reveals a positive trend, with pass percentages showing improvement across all three categories—Group 1, Group 2, and candidates appearing for both groups—when measured against the previous May 2026 session.
The most significant growth was observed in Group 1, which saw its pass rate climb to 23.14% in September, up from 10.25% in May. This represents a substantial increase of 12.89 percentage points. Similarly, candidates attempting both groups saw their success rate rise to 13.21%, compared to 8.47% in the earlier session, marking an improvement of 4.74 percentage points. Group 2 also recorded a steady rise, with the pass percentage moving from 16.11% in May to 18.92% in September.
The September 2026 session saw a total of 1,00,301 candidates appear for Group 1, with 23,210 successfully qualifying. In comparison, the May 2026 session had 91,237 candidates appear, with 9,350 passing. For Group 2, the September examination saw 68,400 candidates appear, resulting in 12,938 passes. This is an increase from the May session, where 10,372 candidates qualified out of 64,381 who appeared.
For those appearing for both groups simultaneously, the September session recorded 5,066 successful candidates out of 38,339 participants. This performance data provides a clear baseline for evaluating the academic outcomes of the current year, highlighting a consistent upward trajectory in the proportion of candidates qualifying across the board.
Candidates who participated in the September 2026 CA Intermediate examination can now access their individual results and scorecards through the official ICAI portal at caresults.icai.org. To view their status, students are required to log in using their registration number and roll number. Once submitted, the system displays the qualifying status and marks, which can then be downloaded for personal records.
In addition to the online portal, the ICAI provides a facility for candidates to receive their results via email, a service introduced to offer greater convenience. Students are encouraged to check their results directly through the official website to ensure they are viewing the most accurate and up-to-date information. The ICAI also hosts results for other levels, including CA Foundation and CA Final, on its official website, icai.nic.in, where candidates can use their pre-existing login credentials to access their merit lists and scorecards.
