The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore has announced the successful conclusion of its summer placement process for the 2026-28 Post Graduate Programme (PGP) and Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA) cohorts. The institute achieved a 100% placement rate, with all 608 participating students securing internship offers from a diverse pool of 128 organizations.
The recruitment drive, which took place from October 26 to October 29, 2026, saw significant activity across several key sectors, including consulting, finance, product management, sales and marketing, and analytics. According to the official report, the median monthly stipend for the batch reached INR 2 lakh, while the average monthly stipend was recorded at INR 1.95 lakh.
Consulting firms emerged as the dominant recruiters this season, accounting for 50.7% of the total offers extended to students. The process also highlighted a notable shift in hiring dynamics, with technology companies doubling their recruitment intake compared to previous cycles. Additionally, Indian conglomerates increased their hiring efforts by 33%, signaling a robust demand for management talent across traditional industrial sectors.
A significant highlight of this year's placement season was the influx of new corporate partners. Approximately 40% of the participating organizations were first-time recruiters at the institute, reflecting a broadening interest in the talent pool at IIM Bangalore. The student-led Placement Committee noted that the institute set a new benchmark by securing offers for over 600 students within the first two days of the process, marking it as one of the fastest and most successful placement drives in the institute's history.
Reflecting on the achievement, Prof. Nishant Kumar Verma, Chairperson of Career Development Services at IIM Bangalore, attributed the success to the high caliber of the students and the enduring trust of corporate partners. He emphasized that the seamless coordination between the student Placement Committee and the Career Development Services (CDS) office played a pivotal role in managing the high volume of recruitment activity within a condensed timeframe.
The institute continues to prioritize its long-standing corporate relationships while actively fostering new connections to ensure diverse career opportunities for its students. As the 2026-28 cohort prepares for their upcoming summer internships, the successful conclusion of this placement cycle reinforces the institute's position in the competitive management education landscape.
