IIT Hyderabad Announces New Four-Week Professional Certification in Applied AI

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has officially launched a new professional certification programme dedicated to Applied Artificial Intelligence. Designed for individuals seeking to enhance their practical expertise in the field, the course aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the actual deployment of AI applications in real-world scenarios.

The upcoming cohort is scheduled to run for four weeks, beginning on September 19, 2026, and concluding on October 17, 2026. The programme is structured to provide a flexible learning experience, offering a hybrid mode of delivery. Participants have the option to attend instructor-led sessions either in person at the IIT Hyderabad campus or through online platforms, with live classes held every Saturday.

Programme Structure and Curriculum Focus

The curriculum is built around a continuous learning model that emphasizes a practical, hands-on approach. Rather than separating theory from practice, the programme requires participants to develop a single, production-style AI agent application throughout the duration of the course. This methodology is intended to help students master the end-to-end process of designing, building, evaluating, and operating AI systems.

The course content covers a comprehensive range of technical topics essential for modern AI engineering. Key areas of study include AI tool usage, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI memory, orchestration, and multi-agent systems. Furthermore, the curriculum addresses critical aspects of the development lifecycle, such as AI evaluation, observability, guardrails, and final deployment strategies.

Instruction and Certification

The teaching team for this programme comprises faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Hyderabad, including Dr. Praveen Tammana, Dr. Ashish Mishra, and Dr. Anupam Sanghi. They will be joined by AI Solution Architect N V S S Koundinya, who will contribute to the instructional delivery.

To earn the IIT Hyderabad Professional Certificate, participants must successfully complete all required assignments, assessments, and project work throughout the four-week duration. This certification is intended to validate the practical skills acquired by students during the course, marking their proficiency in building and managing AI-driven applications.
