IIT Madras Releases GATE 2027 DigiLocker Document Requirements

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially released the document requirements for the GATE 2027 DigiLocker folder. While the formal application window for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 has not yet opened, the institute has updated its frequently asked questions section to provide clarity on the mandatory digital documentation process for prospective candidates.

For the 2027 examination cycle, IIT Madras has made the use of DigiLocker mandatory for all Indian nationals applying for the exam. Candidates are encouraged to ensure their DigiLocker accounts are active and updated well in advance of the official application launch to facilitate a smoother registration experience.

Required Documents and Filing Specifications

The documentation requirements vary depending on the candidate's category. For General, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates, no documents are required to be uploaded to the designated GATE 2027 DigiLocker folder. However, candidates belonging to the SC and ST categories must upload their category certificate to the folder named GATE2027. This file must be saved specifically as CATEGORY.pdf to comply with the portal's requirements.

Candidates falling under the PwD category or those with dyslexia must upload their relevant certificates to the same GATE2027 folder. The institute has mandated strict file naming conventions for these documents: PwD certificates must be labeled as PWD_CERT.pdf, while Unique Disability ID (UDID) cards should be named UDID_CERT.pdf. Additionally, documents referred to as APPENDIX-B1 and APPENDIX-B2 must be uploaded using the file names APPENDIX-B1.pdf and APPENDIX-B2.pdf, respectively.

Preparation for the Application Process

IIT Madras has emphasized that these are the only documents required for the DigiLocker folder. Candidates are cautioned against uploading any additional files that have not been requested. The institute has also provided specific instructions on its official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in, regarding the creation of the required folder within the DigiLocker interface.

While the specific dates for the commencement of the GATE 2027 application process are yet to be announced, the release of these guidelines allows applicants to prepare their digital documentation ahead of time.
