The Telangana State Education Department has officially introduced a new cross-evaluation system for government school examinations, marking a significant shift in how student performance is assessed. Under this updated policy, answer sheets for Summative Assessment 1 (SA1) and Summative Assessment 2 (SA2) will no longer be graded by teachers within the same institution. Instead, educators from other schools will be responsible for evaluating the papers to ensure a more objective and transparent marking process.

This initiative is designed to eliminate potential biases that may arise when teachers evaluate their own students. By introducing an external assessment layer, the department aims to foster greater accountability among teaching staff while providing a more accurate reflection of each student's academic capabilities. Operational Details and Scope of the New Evaluation Policy

The scope of this new evaluation framework varies by grade level. For students in Classes 1 through 9, both the SA1 and SA2 examination answer sheets will be subject to this cross-evaluation process. For students in Class 10, the policy currently applies specifically to the SA1 examination papers. This structured approach is intended to standardize grading practices across the state’s government school network.

To facilitate this transition, the education department is establishing dedicated evaluation centres at the mandal level. These centres will operate under the direct supervision of Mandal Education Officers, who are tasked with ensuring that the grading process adheres to strict guidelines. By centralizing the evaluation, the department expects to remove inconsistencies in marking that previously occurred when assessments were conducted internally.
