The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has officially released the comprehensive report for the JEE Advanced 2026 examination. This detailed document provides a deep dive into the performance metrics, registration statistics, and seat allocation processes that defined the 2026 admission cycle. By offering a granular look at question-wise performance and category-specific data, the report serves as a vital resource for educators and students currently preparing for upcoming entrance cycles.

According to the official data, the examination was conducted on May 17, 2026, across two distinct shifts. A total of 1,87,389 candidates completed their registration for the test, with 1,79,694 students appearing for both papers. Of those who sat for the examination, 56,880 candidates successfully qualified, representing a qualification rate of approximately 31.7 percent.

Key Performance Metrics and Seat Allocation

The report highlights that out of the 56,880 qualified candidates, 18,861 were eventually allotted seats across the 23 participating IITs, a figure that includes supernumerary seats. The data reveals a diverse demographic breakdown, with women accounting for 20.22 percent of the total allotted candidates. When looking at category-wise distribution, OPEN category students secured 38.18 percent of the available seats, followed by OBC-NCL candidates at 27.73 percent, SC candidates at 14.97 percent, GEN-EWS at 11.65 percent, and ST candidates at 7.47 percent.

Academic performance was notably strong in the IIT Delhi zone, which produced the Common Rank List (CRL) topper, Shubham Kumar, who achieved a score of 330 out of 360. Kabeer Chhillar, also from the Delhi zone, followed closely with 329 marks. Arohi Deshpande, representing the same zone, emerged as the top-ranked female candidate with a CRL of 77. While Delhi dominated the top 10 rankings, the IIT Madras zone demonstrated significant strength in volume, boasting the highest number of qualified candidates at 14,294 and securing the largest share of top 100 and top 500 ranks.

Insights for Future Aspirants

For students eyeing the 2027 examination, the report provides essential context regarding the competitive landscape. It includes detailed information on the JEE Main cutoff percentiles, which were set at 93.41 for the OPEN category and 52.02 for the ST category. Furthermore, the report clarifies that 13,127 candidates cleared the cutoff specifically for the Preparatory Course, offering a clearer picture of the various pathways into the IIT system.

The release of this data is particularly timely as the academic community shifts its focus toward the next cycle. With JEE Advanced 2027 tentatively expected to take place in the first week of May 2027, and registration processes likely to commence in early April, the insights provided by IIT Roorkee regarding question paper patterns and category-wise marks-versus-rank data are expected to be instrumental for prospective candidates.
