Parents Seek Resolution Over JEE Main 2027 and Maharashtra HSC Practical Exam Date Clash

A growing number of parents are expressing concern over a potential conflict between the upcoming JEE Main 2027 Session 1 examination schedule and the practical assessment window for the Maharashtra Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Board exams. With both high-stakes assessments falling within the same period in early 2027, families are urging education authorities to intervene and ensure that students are not forced to miss either commitment.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will take place on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30, 2027, with January 31 designated as a buffer date. Simultaneously, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has scheduled its practical, oral, graded, and internal assessment examinations to run from January 20 through February 6, 2027. This overlap has created significant anxiety among Science stream students who are preparing for both the national entrance test and their state board requirements.

Proposed Solutions and Current Status

Concerned parents, particularly from regions including Pune, have reached out to both the MSBSHSE and the NTA to request a coordinated resolution. While the practical examinations are conducted within a broad window—with specific dates determined by individual schools and junior colleges—parents fear that students may be assigned practical assessments on the same days they are scheduled to sit for their JEE Main papers.

To mitigate the impact on students, parents have put forward several suggestions to the relevant boards. These include moving the Maharashtra Board science practicals to an earlier timeframe, such as the final week of December 2026 or the first week of January 2027. Alternatively, they have proposed that the state board offer a special re-examination window for students whose practicals clash with their JEE Main dates, or that the NTA provide flexibility by offering alternative slots for affected candidates.

Upcoming Examination Timeline

As of now, neither the NTA nor the MSBSHSE has issued an official statement confirming any changes to the current examination schedules. Students and parents are advised to monitor the official websites of both the NTA and the Maharashtra Board for any updates or adjustments to the exam calendar.

Following the conclusion of the practical assessments, the Maharashtra HSC theory examinations are slated to commence on February 8, 2027, and will continue until March 16, 2027.
