Students preparing for the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 entrance examination are facing potential scheduling conflicts following the announcement of the National Testing Agency (NTA) exam calendar. The entrance tests, which are critical for admission into premier engineering institutions such as NITs and IIITs, are scheduled to take place on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30, 2027, with January 31 reserved as a buffer date.
This timeline has created significant concern among Class 12 students in Maharashtra and West Bengal, as the NTA dates overlap directly with the practical examination windows recently released by their respective state education boards. Managing the demands of both board-level assessments and the national engineering entrance test has become a primary concern for many candidates.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has scheduled its Class 12 HSC practical, oral, and internal assessments to be held from January 20 to February 6, 2027. Because this window encompasses the entire duration of the JEE Main Session 1, students in the state may find their practical exams scheduled on the same days as their entrance tests.
Similarly, the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) has set its project and practical examinations for the period between January 22 and February 13, 2027. As the JEE Main Session 1 is set to begin on January 22, the start of the national entrance exam coincides with the commencement of the West Bengal board's practical assessments. The subsequent JEE Main dates—January 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30—also fall within the West Bengal board's practical examination window.
While the overlap presents a logistical challenge, it does not guarantee a direct conflict for every individual student. The NTA assigns specific exam dates and shifts to candidates through their admit cards and city intimation slips. Furthermore, practical examination schedules at the school level are often determined by individual institutions, meaning that a student's specific practical exam may not necessarily fall on the same day as their assigned JEE Main slot.
The NTA has noted that the currently announced JEE Main 2027 dates are tentative, and a more detailed examination notification is expected to be released in due course. Students are advised to monitor the official websites of the NTA, the Maharashtra State Board, and the West Bengal Council for any further updates, official notices, or potential adjustments to the examination schedules.
