Karnataka PGCET 2026: 23,164 Seats Allotted in Round 1, Over 13,000 Remain Vacant

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially released the final seat allotment results for the first round of the Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) 2026. The announcement, confirmed by KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna, marks a significant milestone for students seeking admission into MBA, MCA, MTech, and MArch programmes across the state.

According to the data released by the authority, a total of 23,164 seats have been successfully allotted to eligible candidates during this initial phase. However, the results also highlight that 13,590 seats remain vacant across various postgraduate disciplines. These unfilled positions are set to be carried forward into the second round of the seat allotment process.

Course-Wise Breakdown and Next Steps

The distribution of seats reveals varying demand across the offered postgraduate courses. The MBA programme saw the highest volume of activity, with 11,462 seats filled and 2,195 remaining vacant. The MCA discipline recorded 8,093 allotments, leaving 9,574 seats currently unfilled. Meanwhile, for MTech programmes, 3,609 seats were assigned to applicants, with 1,821 seats left vacant following the conclusion of the first round.

The final allotment list was published on September 25, 2026, following a brief window for candidates to review provisional results and submit objections. This process ensured that any discrepancies identified after the initial provisional list, released on September 23, were addressed before the finalisation of the current figures.

Candidates who have been allotted seats are now awaiting further instructions regarding the admission procedure. Executive Director H. Prasanna has indicated that the official schedule for the subsequent stages of the Karnataka PGCET 2026 admission process will be released shortly. Students are advised to regularly monitor the official KEA website for updates, as the next phase of the counselling schedule is expected to be communicated by September 29.
