The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially launched an online portal to facilitate seat cancellations for candidates participating in the second round of the UGCET 2026 counseling process. This development follows the release of the final seat allotment results, which were published on August 24, 2026, and covers a wide range of professional programs, including engineering, architecture, farm science, veterinary, nursing, and allied health courses.

Candidates who have been allotted seats but wish to withdraw or cancel their current allotment must utilize this newly opened online facility. The window for submitting cancellation requests is now active and will remain open until 3:00 PM on August 29, 2026. Authorities have emphasized the importance of adhering to this timeline to ensure that the cancellation is processed efficiently and to avoid the complexities associated with offline procedures.

Guidelines for Choice Selection and Seat Upgradation

Following the second-round allotment, the KEA has restricted candidate options to either Choice-1 or Choice-4. Students opting for Choice-1 are required to complete the admission process at their allotted college. For those who are not interested in their current seat and wish to participate in the third round of counseling, the authority has outlined specific financial implications. Rejecting a Choice-1 allotment to move forward to the next round will result in the forfeiture of the INR 5,000 deposit. To remain eligible for future rounds, students must clear this deposit and ensure their seat cancellation is completed through the online portal before the specified deadline.

Furthermore, the KEA has provided specific guidance for students who have also entered choices for medical and dental programs. Candidates who are currently allotted an engineering or other professional seat but are not interested in retaining it are advised to select Choice-4. This action is intended to protect their eligibility to participate in the upcoming second-round counseling processes for medical and dental courses.

In addition to the cancellation portal, the KEA has reminded candidates of the ongoing admission schedule. Students who intend to proceed with their allotted seats must ensure that their admission fee payment is completed at their designated colleges by August 28, 2026.
