The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially released the counselling schedule and updated information brochure for the NEET PG 2026 admissions process. Candidates preparing for seat allotment can begin their registration for the first round starting October 12, 2026, via the official MCC website at mcc.nic.in. The registration window for this initial phase is scheduled to remain open until October 21, with the choice-filling process for colleges and courses set to commence on October 13.

This year’s admission cycle brings several procedural modifications designed to simplify the experience for applicants. Among the most notable updates is the introduction of the Freeze and Float options, which provide candidates with greater flexibility regarding their allotted seats. Additionally, the MCC has transitioned to an online-based system for document uploading and verification for specific categories, as well as a new digital process for handling NRI quota applications, replacing the previous requirement of submitting documents via email.

Key Procedural Changes and Counselling Structure

The updated 2026 brochure outlines a more robust framework for the counselling process. In addition to the new seat selection options, the MCC has expanded the medical assessment boards for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and extended the deadline for internship completion. To provide continuous support to applicants, a 24x7 help desk has also been established. Furthermore, the committee has implemented a formal online mechanism for the resignation or surrender of seats, specifically for candidates utilizing the Float option, which must be completed through the portal within designated deadlines.

Participation in the counselling process remains restricted to candidates who have successfully qualified for the NEET PG exam by meeting the minimum cutoff scores established by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The counselling process typically spans four rounds, with the duration of each round—from registration to final reporting—generally lasting between 15 and 20 days. The total duration of the entire counselling cycle is contingent upon the number of vacant seats remaining after each round.

Final seat allotment is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's NEET PG rank, the preferences declared during the choice-filling stage, the availability of seats in specific institutions, and applicable reservation policies. Candidates are advised to monitor the official MCC portal regularly for further updates and to ensure all documentation is prepared in accordance with the new online verification requirements.
