The National Institute of Design (NID) has officially commenced the registration process for the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2027. Prospective students aiming to secure admission into undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes are encouraged to complete their applications through the official NID website well before the closing date.
The application window is currently open for various courses, including the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programmes, as well as the 5.5-year integrated Master of Design pathway. Officials have set the final deadline for submission as November 30, 2026, providing applicants with a clear window to prepare their documentation and submit their forms.
While the application deadline is set for the end of November, authorities advise candidates to avoid waiting until the final days to submit their forms. Early submission helps mitigate the risk of technical issues, such as server congestion, payment processing errors, or last-minute data entry mistakes that can occur during high-traffic periods.
Following the conclusion of the registration phase, the institute will provide a brief opportunity for candidates to correct any errors in their submitted forms. The application edit window is scheduled to open on December 1, 2026, and will remain active until December 3, 2026. Following this, the NID DAT 2027 Prelims examination for both undergraduate and postgraduate candidates is slated to take place on December 20, 2026.
Candidates applying under reserved categories must ensure they have the necessary supporting documentation ready during the online application process. All applicants are required to upload a photograph and a signature. Additionally, those seeking benefits under specific categories must provide valid certificates to substantiate their claims.
For instance, candidates applying under the General-EWS category must provide an EWS certificate, while those in the OBC-NCL, SC, or ST categories are required to upload their respective caste or tribe certificates. Applicants under the PwD category must submit a disability certificate or a UDID card. Furthermore, overseas candidates are required to upload the first and last pages of their passports. Ensuring these documents are prepared in advance will facilitate a smoother application experience and help prevent potential issues during the verification stage.
