The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially confirmed the dates for the upcoming re-examinations of the UGC NET June 2026 cycle. Following a comprehensive review by an expert committee, the agency will hold fresh tests for the English and Commerce papers on September 9, 2026. This decision follows the identification of various irregularities, including typographical errors, translation issues, and the repetition of questions from previous years, which prompted the NTA to take corrective action for the affected subjects.

Candidates scheduled to appear for these papers will not be required to pay any additional examination fees. The NTA has clarified that these re-examinations are being treated as fresh assessments for the students impacted by the initial discrepancies. While the English and Commerce papers are set for September 9, the Sociology paper is scheduled to be conducted separately on September 10, 2026.

Examination Schedule and Logistics

The NTA has released a specific timetable to ensure the smooth conduct of these tests. On September 9, the English paper will take place during the morning session, running from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The Commerce paper is scheduled for the afternoon shift, starting at 3:00 PM and concluding at 6:00 PM. Candidates are advised to monitor the official UGC NET and NTA websites for the release of their examination city intimation slips and admit cards.

The forthcoming admit cards will contain essential information, including the specific examination centre, designated reporting times, and detailed instructions for the day of the test. As the re-examination process is limited to English, Commerce, and Sociology, the NTA has already processed and declared the results for the remaining 84 subjects, which were released on August 28, 2026. The results for the three re-conducted subjects will be processed and announced only after the completion of these fresh examinations.

Background on the Re-Examination Decision

The original UGC NET June 2026 examination was conducted between June 22 and June 30, covering 87 subjects. Following the conclusion of the exam, the NTA received numerous complaints from candidates regarding the quality and accuracy of the question papers. In response, the agency established an expert committee to conduct a thorough audit of the English, Commerce, and Sociology papers. The committee’s findings confirmed that the papers contained multiple factual and grammatical errors, leading to the decision to hold these specific re-examinations to maintain the integrity of the selection process.
