The National Testing Agency (NTA) is preparing to launch an AI-powered helpline service designed to provide students with immediate assistance regarding major entrance examinations, including JEE Main and NEET UG. This initiative aims to address the high volume of inquiries the agency receives during peak application periods, offering a more efficient alternative to traditional support channels.
The proposed service is expected to utilize the existing toll-free number, 1800 180 47 47, to handle automated responses. While the system is currently undergoing testing, the NTA has yet to confirm an official public launch date. Once operational, the AI tool is intended to guide candidates through various aspects of the examination process, such as registration procedures, document requirements, fee submissions, and eligibility criteria.
The introduction of this AI-driven platform is a strategic move to manage the significant influx of queries that the NTA handles annually. As the body responsible for conducting some of the country’s largest entrance tests—including JEE Main, NEET UG, CUET, and UGC NET—the agency often faces challenges in providing timely responses to the lakhs of students who apply each year. By automating answers to common questions, the NTA aims to reduce wait times and allow human support staff to focus on resolving more complex grievances.
Currently, candidates seeking assistance rely on dedicated phone lines, such as 011-40759000 and 011-69227700, or email correspondence. The new AI service is expected to complement these existing resources, providing a faster, round-the-clock solution for routine inquiries. This development follows reports of past candidate concerns regarding delays in receiving support during critical application windows.
In addition to the technological upgrades, the NTA has already released the schedule for the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 examinations. The tests are slated to take place on January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30, with January 31 designated as a buffer day. While the examination dates are confirmed, the registration window for the 2027 session has not yet been announced. Students are advised to monitor official NTA communications for further updates regarding the application process and the official rollout of the AI helpline.
