The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun is preparing to launch the registration process for the UPESEAT 2027 entrance examination. This upcoming cycle will allow prospective students to apply for various undergraduate engineering programmes offered by the institution. The official application portal is expected to go live shortly after September 14, 2026, marking the beginning of the admission season for the next academic year.
Candidates interested in pursuing a B.Tech degree at UPES are advised to monitor the official university website at upes.ac.in for the activation of the application link. Admission to the university's B.Tech courses is facilitated through multiple pathways, including scores from the UPESEAT entrance exam, JEE Main, board examination results, SAT scores, and CUET results.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet specific academic standards set by the university's admission committee. Generally, candidates are required to have secured at least 50% marks in both their 10th and 12th-grade examinations, with a minimum of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in their 12th-grade board exams. For the specialized B.Tech Mathematics and Computing programme, the requirement is higher, necessitating at least 70% marks in 10th and 12th grades, as well as 70% in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics individually.
The UPESEAT itself is designed as a remotely proctored examination with a duration of two hours. The test consists of 125 multiple-choice questions covering four core subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English Language Comprehension. Each question carries one mark, and notably, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers, which is a significant detail for students preparing for the assessment.
Once the registration link is officially activated, candidates will need to complete the application process through the university's online portal. The procedure involves an initial registration step to generate unique login credentials, followed by filling out the detailed application form and submitting the required registration fee of Rs 1750. While the start date is anticipated after September 14, 2026, the specific deadlines for application submission will be announced by the university in a phase-wise manner.
