BFUHS Restores Punjab NEET UG Candidature for Four Students and Releases Sports Merit List

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) has announced a significant update regarding the ongoing NEET UG 2026 counselling process for medical admissions in Punjab. In a recent official notice, the university confirmed the restoration of state quota candidature for four students who were previously barred from participating in the admission process.

These students had originally been disqualified from the 85% Punjab state quota for MBBS and BDS seats due to concerns regarding their application status in multiple states. Following formal representations from the affected candidates, BFUHS conducted a verification of their records against data from other states. Having cleared the verification process, the university has now reinstated their eligibility to participate in the remaining rounds of the state counselling.

Updates on Sports Category and Round 2 Allotments

Alongside the restoration of these candidatures, BFUHS has released the official sports category merit list, which will be utilized for the upcoming Round 2 seat allotment process. This marks a notable development in the current academic cycle, as it is the first time that sports category seats are being formally allocated for MBBS and BDS admissions within the state.

The university has also provided clear guidelines regarding the selection process for these specific seats. To ensure transparency in the allocation, BFUHS has established a tie-breaking protocol for candidates within the sports category. In instances where two or more applicants hold identical merit marks, the university will prioritize the candidate with the higher rank in the NEET UG 2026 examination.

While the four previously debarred students have been cleared to participate, the university has emphasized that this restoration does not serve as a guarantee of admission. All candidates, including those reinstated, must continue to meet all established eligibility criteria throughout the subsequent stages of the counselling process to secure a seat in their preferred medical or dental college.
