The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has officially launched the CSAB Supernumerary Counselling 2026, aimed at facilitating admissions to supernumerary seats in select National Institutes of Technology (NITs). The online registration and choice filling process is now open, allowing eligible candidates to apply until August 24, 2026. This initiative is particularly designed for candidates from the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The CSAB Supernumerary Round will specifically cater to supernumerary seats at NIT Calicut, NIT Durgapur, and SVNIT Surat. Admissions will be determined based on the candidates' ranks from the JEE Main 2026 examination. It is important to note that this counselling process is distinct from the regular Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and CSAB Special rounds, necessitating candidates to complete a fresh registration and choice filling through the official CSAB portal.
Before applying, candidates are urged to thoroughly review the eligibility criteria and business rules, as the procedures for registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and fee payment differ from other rounds. The introduction of the CSAB Supernumerary Round aims to ensure that the reserved supernumerary seats for eligible candidates from the specified Union Territories are filled effectively.
To assist candidates in the application process, the official CSAB website has published essential documents, including the Supernumerary Round schedule, seat matrix, and an information brochure. Candidates should prepare their JEE Main 2026 credentials and necessary documents in advance, ensuring that all details are verified before submission.
Key dates for the CSAB Supernumerary Counselling 2026 include the registration and choice filling period from August 21 to 24, 2026, the display of seat allotment results on August 25, and the document upload and Supernumerary Seat Acceptance Fee (SSAF) payment from August 25 to 27. Additionally, candidates who confirm their seats must physically report to their allotted institutes between August 26 and 31, 2026. The resolution of any SSAF payment issues will be addressed until August 28, 2026.
