The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially commenced the registration process for the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (Joint CSIR UGC NET) for the December 2026 session. Aspiring candidates who meet the eligibility requirements can now access the application portal through the official website at csirnet.nta.nic.in to complete their submissions.

The application window is currently open, and the deadline for candidates to submit their forms is November 5, 2026, at 11:50 pm. Following this initial period, the NTA will provide a window for late submissions, which will incur an additional late fee of INR 500. The registration process for late applicants will remain open from November 6 through November 9, 2026, with the final deadline for fee payment set for November 9, 2026.

Application Process and Correction Window

To apply for the examination, candidates must visit the official NTA portal, navigate to the registration link for the December 2026 session, and complete the required registration steps. This involves filling out the application form, uploading the necessary documentation, and processing the application fee. Once the submission is complete, candidates are advised to download the confirmation page for their records.

For those who may need to update their information, the NTA has scheduled an application correction window. This facility will be available from November 10 to November 12, 2026, allowing candidates to rectify any errors in their submitted forms.

Exam Schedule and Subject Coverage

The detailed notification for the December 2026 session has been released alongside the application forms, providing comprehensive information regarding the examination structure. The test will be conducted across several key disciplines, including Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean, and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences and Biotechnology; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences.

According to the official schedule, the examination is set to take place on December 9, December 22, and December 27, 2026. The test will be held in two daily shifts: the morning session will run from 9 am to 12 noon, and the afternoon session will be conducted from 3 pm to 6 pm.
