The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially announced the registration schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. Aspiring candidates seeking admission into MTech and PhD programs can begin submitting their applications through the official Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in starting August 27, 2026.

For those who miss this initial deadline, an extended registration window will be available until October 5, 2026, subject to an additional late fee of INR 500.

The application fees are tiered based on candidate categories. For female candidates, as well as those belonging to SC, ST, or PwD categories, the regular registration fee is INR 1000, which increases to INR 1500 during the extended period. For all other candidates, the regular fee is set at INR 2000, rising to INR 2500 for those applying during the extended window.

To register, candidates must visit the official website at gate2027.iitm.ac.in. A mandatory requirement for Indian nationals is the use of a DigiLocker account to facilitate the registration process. Upon accessing the GOAPS portal, applicants are required to generate an enrollment ID and password.
