Registration for GATE 2027 Begins on August 27: Necessary Documents and Application Process Available at gate2027.iitm.ac.in

IIT Madras has announced that the registration for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 will commence on August 27, 2026. Candidates interested in applying can access the application form through the Graduate Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal. It is essential for applicants to prepare all necessary documents, including a recent photograph, signature, and category certificates, prior to the activation of the registration link at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.

The registration period for GATE 2027 will remain open until September 27, 2026, for those paying the regular fees. Candidates who miss this deadline will have the option to register until October 5, 2026, by paying an extended fee. Both Indian and international candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply within the specified timeframe to participate in the examination.

To ensure a smooth registration process, candidates must have several documents ready, including a scanned photograph and signature that meet the specified requirements. Additionally, valid identification proof is required, which can include an Aadhar UID, passport, PAN card, voter ID, driving license, or any other government-issued ID. Indian nationals are also advised to create or update their DigiLocker accounts for verification purposes during the registration process.

The registration process involves several steps: candidates must visit the official website and access the GOAPS portal, register to generate an enrollment ID and password, and log in to fill out personal, educational, and communication details. After uploading the required documents and completing facial verification via webcam or mobile, candidates will need to pay the application fee and submit their application form. It is recommended to save and download the confirmation PDF for future reference.

The GATE 2027 examination is scheduled to take place over six days, specifically on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. The computer-based test will be conducted in two shifts—morning and afternoon—across 30 subjects. As the exam approaches, candidates are encouraged to stay informed about any updates regarding the syllabus and other relevant details to ensure they are well-prepared.
