The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has officially updated the registration schedule for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. Prospective candidates can now begin their application process on September 12, 2026, a shift from the previously announced date of September 5. The application window will remain open until the final deadline of October 12, 2026.
All registrations must be completed through the official JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal at jam.iitkgp.ac.in. The institute has already released the comprehensive information brochure, which outlines the examination requirements, fee structures, and the step-by-step application procedure for interested students.
To initiate the registration, candidates are required to create an account on the JOAPS portal using a valid email address and an active mobile number. Upon successful registration, applicants will receive an Enrollment ID and a One-Time Password (OTP) to verify their credentials. Once logged in, candidates must provide personal, academic, and communication details, select their preferred test papers—choosing either one or two—and designate their examination cities.
A significant part of the application involves uploading necessary digital documents. Candidates should have their Class 10 marksheet for date-of-birth verification, a recent photograph, and a signature ready for upload. Additionally, those belonging to specific categories or individuals with disabilities must provide valid category certificates or a Unique Disability ID (UDID) number. Applicants are also required to submit details from a government-issued photo identity document, such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, driving licence, or voter ID.
The application fees for IIT JAM 2027 are determined by the candidate's category and the number of test papers selected. For female candidates, as well as those belonging to SC, ST, or PwD categories, the fee is set at INR 1000 for a single test paper and INR 1350 for two test papers. For all other candidates, the registration fee is INR 2000 for one test paper and INR 2700 for two test papers. All payments must be processed online through the official portal as part of the final submission process.
