Indian Institute of Technology and it’s C3iHub, the Cybersecurity Technology Innovation Hub, in partnership with the University of Tulsa, USA, will host the 21st Annual IFIP WG 11.9 International Conference on Digital Forensics. Scheduled for January 6 and 7, 2025, the event will bring together experts and researchers to discuss advancements and innovations in the field of digital forensics. The 21st Annual IFIP WG 11.9 International Conference on Digital Forensics serves as a premier platform to present original, unpublished research and innovative ideas focused on the extraction, analysis, and preservation of electronic evidence. This event aligns with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's (MeitY) vision of fostering research in digital forensics, contributing to secure and reliable solutions for computer systems and cyberspace. The conference will attract a diverse audience, including representatives from investigative agencies, forensic laboratories, academia, research institutions, law enforcement, government bodies, and international delegates from countries such as the USA, Hong Kong, and Australia. Spanning two days, the event will feature six sessions presenting 13 research papers on cutting-edge topics such as Deepfakes, Digital Forensic Models, Tools and Techniques, Cloud Forensics, Mobile and Embedded Device Forensics, and Industrial Control Systems Forensics. In addition to paper presentations, the conference will host two engaging panel discussions on critical topics: Government Initiatives and Policies for the Cybersecurity Ecosystem and Laws, Regulations, and Digital Forensics. These discussions will feature a distinguished panel of experts who will provide valuable insights drawn from their extensive experience. Dr. Somitra Kr Sanadhya, the Organising Chair of the conference, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dean of Digital Infrastructure and Automation, and Chief Information Security Officer at IIT Jodhpur, has played a pivotal role in organizing the conference. Speaking about his work and the conference, Prof. Sanadhya said, “My area of work is centered around Computer Security; and Digital Forensics is an emerging field which promises to deliver solutions that could benefit law enforcement agencies to speed up investigation of cases that involve electronic evidence. My aim in being associated with organization of the 21st International Conference on Digital Forensics is to introduce Indian students interested in pursuing research in the field of Digital Forensics to the top-notch research happening in this area.” The keynote addresses will be delivered by eminent figures, including Lt. Gen. M. Unnikrishnan Nair, National Cybersecurity Coordinator, National Security Council Secretariat, Government of India, on the topic “Digital Forensics: Challenges Arising Due to Emerging Technologies,” and Dr. Gaurav Gupta, Director and Scientist F at MeitY, on “The Evolving Digital Forensics Ecosystem.” This conference represents a significant opportunity to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and drive innovation in the rapidly evolving domain of digital forensics.
