IIT Madras Extends GATE 2027 Registration Deadline with Regular Fees

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has officially extended the registration deadline for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027. This extension provides prospective candidates with additional time to complete their application process and submit their forms without incurring any late fees. The revised schedule is intended to accommodate students who have yet to finalise their registration for the upcoming examination.

According to the updated notification, the deadline for submitting the GATE 2027 application form with regular fees is now October 5, 2026. For those who miss this window, an extended period with late fees will remain available until October 12, 2026. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the official website at gate2027.iitm.ac.in to complete their registration before the new cutoff dates.

Application Process and Requirements

To participate in GATE 2027, candidates must complete the mandatory registration process through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The application procedure involves creating an account, entering personal and academic details, selecting preferred examination centres, and completing the fee payment. As part of the digital verification process, Indian nationals are required to link their verified or unverified DigiLocker account to their application, ensuring the consent year validity is set to three years. Additionally, applicants must provide facial registration data during the form-filling process at the GOAPS portal.

Before beginning the application, candidates should ensure they have all necessary documentation ready, including a photograph, signature, and valid identification proof. The application fee structure varies based on the submission timeline. During the regular registration period, the fee is set at INR 1,000 for female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, and INR 2,000 for all other categories. For applications submitted during the extended window, the fees increase to INR 1,500 and INR 2,500, respectively.

Checking Application Status

Once the application has been submitted, candidates can monitor the status of their form directly through the GOAPS portal. To check the status, applicants must log in to the official website using their enrollment ID and password. Upon successful login, the current status of the application will be displayed on the screen. It is highly recommended that candidates download and save the confirmation PDF for their records, as this serves as proof of submission for future reference. Candidates are advised to complete their registration promptly to avoid any last-minute technical issues as the new deadline approaches.
