IIT Roorkee Introduces New PG Certificate Programme in AI-Powered Business Applications

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has officially launched a new Post-Graduate Certificate Programme in Building AI-Powered Business Applications. This initiative is tailored for professionals aiming to acquire practical expertise in artificial intelligence, specifically focusing on how these technologies can be integrated into modern business environments to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

The four-month programme emphasizes an application-driven learning model, moving away from traditional theoretical instruction. By utilizing no-code approaches, the curriculum enables participants to design and deploy AI solutions without requiring an extensive background in programming or software development. The course structure is designed to accommodate the schedules of working professionals, with classes conducted exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays for three hours each day.

Curriculum Focus and Eligibility Requirements

The curriculum covers a broad spectrum of contemporary AI topics, including the design of AI agents, intelligent workflow automation, and the development of enterprise knowledge assistants using retrieval-based systems. A significant portion of the training is dedicated to Generative AI and Agentic AI, teaching students how to identify specific business processes where AI can add value. Furthermore, the programme addresses critical aspects of the industry, such as responsible AI governance, security protocols, and deployment readiness across various operational workflows.

To ensure a practical learning experience, the programme incorporates hands-on exercises, various mini-projects, and a comprehensive capstone project. Regarding eligibility, the institute has opened applications to graduates, as well as diploma holders who possess a minimum of three years of relevant work experience. The total fee for the programme is set at INR 1,09,000, excluding applicable GST.
