The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) in Madhya Pradesh has officially suspended the ongoing admission process for the first round of the State Combined NEET PG Counselling 2026. This decision, which takes effect immediately, impacts all candidates who were previously allotted postgraduate medical seats across the state.
According to an official notification released by the Office of the Commissioner, Medical Education in Bhopal, the pause in the admission process is a direct consequence of an interim order issued by the Jabalpur Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The court's directive, delivered on November 2, 2026, pertains to Writ Petition No. 44909/2026, involving Dr. Sarvjeet Singh and Another versus the State of Madhya Pradesh and Another.
As a result of this legal development, all activities related to the first round of counselling have been brought to a standstill. This includes the physical reporting of candidates at their allotted institutions, the verification of essential documents, and the formal procedures required to secure a medical seat. Students who had already been allotted seats under this round are now required to wait for further instructions from the state authorities.
The DME has confirmed that the freeze on the admission process will remain in place until the High Court provides further directions or issues a final order regarding the case. Candidates are advised to monitor the official state medical education website regularly for any updates or changes to the counselling schedule.
At this stage, no new timeline for the resumption of the admission process has been provided. The authorities have indicated that the suspension is mandatory to ensure compliance with the ongoing judicial proceedings. Students are encouraged to remain patient and rely solely on official notices published by the Directorate of Medical Education for accurate information regarding the status of their postgraduate medical admissions.
