The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a reminder for prospective students planning to appear for the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) entrance examination in 2027. Candidates aiming to secure a seat in undergraduate or postgraduate design and technology programmes must submit their application forms by November 16, 2026, to avoid incurring extra charges.

The registration process is currently active on the official NTA portal at exams.nta.nic.in/niftee. Applicants are encouraged to complete their submissions promptly to ensure their participation in the upcoming admission cycle, which covers various courses including Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Fashion Technology, and several master’s level programmes.

Application Deadlines and Late Fee Provisions

While the deadline for submitting applications with the standard examination fee is November 16, 2026, the NTA has provided a grace period for those who may miss this initial cutoff. Candidates who fail to register by the regular deadline will be permitted to submit their applications until November 21, 2026, provided they pay an additional late fee of INR 5,000 in addition to the standard examination charges.

Following the conclusion of the application process, the NTA will open a correction window from November 22 to November 25, 2026. This period allows candidates to rectify any errors made during the initial form-filling process. It is essential for applicants to review their details carefully before final submission to ensure accuracy.

Examination Structure and Fee Details

The NIFT 2027 entrance examination is scheduled to take place on January 10, 2027. Depending on the specific programme and examination component, the test will be conducted in either a Computer-Based Test (CBT) or a Paper-Based Test (PBT) format.

The application fee structure is tiered based on the candidate's category and the number of programmes selected. For candidates in the Open, Open-EWS, and OBC-NCL categories, the fee is INR 2,000 for one programme and INR 3,000 for two. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD, or PwBD categories are required to pay INR 500 for one programme or INR 750 for two. For NRI, Foreign National, OCI, PIO, and SAARC candidates, the fee is set at INR 11,100.

To register, candidates must visit the official website, complete the initial registration using their personal details, and log in to fill out the comprehensive application form. The process includes uploading necessary documents, selecting examination cities, and completing the payment. Once the form is submitted, candidates are advised to download the confirmation page for their records.
