The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has officially commenced the registration process for the NMAT 2026 examination. Prospective students aiming for admission into various top-tier MBA programs across India are encouraged to submit their applications through the official portal at mba.com. The application window is currently active, and candidates are required to complete their submissions by the deadline of October 10, 2026.

Following the successful submission of the registration form, candidates will be granted access to the exam scheduling window. This stage is crucial as it allows applicants to select their preferred test centres and specific examination slots. To ensure a smooth process and secure their desired testing locations, candidates are advised to complete the registration and fee payment well in advance of the October deadline.

Exam Schedule and Attempt Guidelines

The NMAT 2026 examination is scheduled to be conducted over a designated window, running from November 2, 2026, to December 20, 2026. A notable feature of the NMAT structure is the provision for multiple attempts, allowing candidates to improve their performance. Aspirants are permitted a maximum of three attempts during the testing period, which consists of one primary attempt and up to two retakes.

For those planning to utilize the retake option, the registration window for these attempts will open on November 3, 2026, and remain available until December 17, 2026. Furthermore, candidates who have already booked a test slot but need to make changes have the option to reschedule. This service is available upon the payment of an additional fee of INR 1,200 plus applicable taxes.

Registration Fees and Scoring Structure

The registration fee for NMAT 2026 is set at INR 3,000 plus applicable taxes, with no category-based concessions available. This fee structure also applies to each retake attempt. The initial registration fee includes the reporting of scores to five selected business school programs. Should a candidate wish to send their scores to additional institutions, an extra fee of INR 400 plus taxes per program will be charged.

Regarding the examination format, the NMAT consists of 108 questions, with each correct answer carrying three marks. Consequently, the total score for the exam ranges from a minimum of 36 to a maximum scaled score of 360. The exam is widely recognized for its role in the admission processes of prominent institutions, including SVKM's NMIMS, the K J Somaiya Institute of Management, and TAPMI. Candidates are encouraged to monitor the official website for any further updates regarding the examination process.
