The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to close the regular registration window for the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR UGC NET) December 2026 session today, November 5. Candidates who intend to appear for the examination must ensure their application forms and fee payments are submitted through the official website, csirnet.nta.nic.in, by 11:50 PM.
This deadline marks the end of the standard application period, which initially opened on October 7, 2026. Applicants are advised to complete their registration and payment processes promptly to avoid any last-minute technical issues. The NTA requires candidates to provide accurate personal and academic information, along with the necessary digital copies of their photograph and signature, to finalize their submission.
For candidates who are unable to meet today's deadline, the NTA has scheduled a secondary application window that includes a late fee. This period will run from November 6 to November 9, 2026. During these four days, applicants can still register for the exam, provided they pay an additional late fee of INR 500 on top of the standard examination charges. The final deadline for completing this late-fee payment is also 11:50 PM on November 9, 2026.
Following the conclusion of the registration process, the NTA will open an application correction window. This facility will be available from November 10 to November 12, 2026, allowing registered candidates to modify specific permitted details in their submitted forms. It is recommended that candidates review their applications carefully during this time to ensure all information is correct before the final processing begins.
The examination fees for the CSIR NET December 2026 are structured by category: INR 1,150 for General candidates, INR 600 for General-EWS and OBC-NCL candidates, and INR 325 for SC, ST, PwD, PwBD, and Third Gender applicants. The upcoming examination is scheduled to be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format across three dates: December 19, 22, and 27, 2026. The test will cover five core subjects: Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences and Biotechnology; Mathematical Sciences; and Physical Sciences.
