Candidates intending to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 have until tomorrow, October 12, 2026, to submit their applications with the required late fees. IIT Madras, the organizing institute for this year's examination, has confirmed that this window represents the final opportunity for registration, with no further extensions expected to be granted.

The examination serves as a primary gateway for students seeking admission into postgraduate programs, including MTech and PhD courses, at various IITs, NITs, and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). Prospective applicants must ensure their submissions are completed through the official GOAPS portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in before the deadline expires.

Application Process and Fee Structure

To register, candidates are required to visit the official website and access the GOAPS portal. The application process involves registering via DigiLocker, providing personal details, completing a facial verification step, selecting the appropriate GATE paper, and uploading the necessary documentation. Applicants are reminded that the registration fee is non-refundable. For those applying during this late fee period, the charges are set at INR 1,500 for female, reserved category, and PwD candidates, while other applicants are required to pay INR 2,500.

Officials have advised candidates to maintain their DigiLocker accounts, as these will be essential for future updates regarding the examination. While registration is possible with an unverified DigiLocker account, candidates are cautioned against deleting these accounts after the application process is complete. Once the registration window closes tomorrow, the next significant phase in the examination calendar will be the application correction window, which is scheduled to open from October 14 to October 21, 2026.

Following the conclusion of the application process, the examination authority will release the city intimation slips on January 4, 2027. The GATE 2027 examinations are slated to be conducted over several days in February, specifically on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. The final results for the test are currently scheduled to be announced on March 19, 2027.
