NIT Calicut Celebrates 22nd Convocation with Record 2,128 Graduates

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut recently hosted its 22nd convocation ceremony, marking a significant milestone for the institution as it conferred degrees upon a record 2,128 graduating students. The event, held on the institute's campus, celebrated the academic achievements of students across a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

This year’s graduating cohort represents the largest group to pass through the institute to date, a development that officials attribute to the ongoing expansion of the university's academic offerings and student capacity. The graduates spanned several disciplines, including 1,162 B.Tech students, 575 M.Tech students, 130 PhD scholars, 102 M.Sc graduates, 76 MBA students, 65 B.Arch students, and 18 M.Plan students.

Academic Excellence and Award Recognition

A central highlight of the convocation was the recognition of students who demonstrated exceptional academic performance throughout their studies. During the ceremony, the institute presented gold medals and special awards to top-performing students across various undergraduate branches, acknowledging their dedication to research, innovation, and overall academic excellence.

Nandana Anand, a student of B.Tech Computer Science, was honoured as the top undergraduate performer, receiving both the Er. M.L. Bapna Gold Medal and the Prof. Allesu Kanjirathinkal Memorial Award. Other notable gold medal recipients included Hannah Rachel Mathew for B.Arch, and various toppers across engineering disciplines, such as Gowri Chandhana N (Biotechnology), Vemana Chandra Sekhar (Chemical Engineering), Akash Verma (Civil Engineering), Kattamuri Charukesh (Electrical and Electronics Engineering), Panthula Divith Reddy (Electronics and Communication Engineering), Mohamad Rayes (Materials Science), G. Niranjana (Mechanical Engineering), Prarabdha Chatterjee (Production Engineering), and Slomo John Joshi (Engineering Physics).

Presiding over the event, Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut, oversaw the distribution of these honours. The ceremony served not only to mark the completion of the students' academic journeys but also to underscore the institute's commitment to fostering a new generation of skilled professionals, researchers, and entrepreneurs. As the institution continues to grow, it remains focused on maintaining its standards for academic and research output.
