The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has officially announced the postponement of the decentralised counselling process for the 2026 academic session. While the registration process was initially slated to commence on September 2, 2026, the board has decided to delay the schedule to accommodate significant changes to the eligibility criteria for participants.

Candidates awaiting the decentralised counselling process are advised to monitor the official WBJEEB website at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee for the upcoming announcement of the revised dates. Although a specific timeline for the new schedule has not yet been provided, the board has confirmed that the process will be conducted to facilitate the filling of vacant seats across participating institutes within the state.

Updated Eligibility and Counselling Process Details

In a major shift, the board has expanded the eligibility criteria for the decentralised round. Participation is now open to candidates with valid WBJEE scores, JEE Main scores, or those who have completed their 12th standard examinations. Notably, this updated policy also permits students who have already secured admission into an institute to register and participate in this round of counselling.

The decentralised counselling will be conducted in two rounds through an online portal. During these rounds, candidates will be required to complete fresh registrations and choice filling. However, the board has specified that participants will not have the option to determine their order of preference during the selection process. To participate, candidates must pay a non-refundable counselling fee of INR 250 through the online payment gateway.

The WBJEEB is expected to publish the comprehensive and updated eligibility guidelines on its official portal in the near future. Students are encouraged to stay updated through the official website to ensure they do not miss the forthcoming registration window once the new dates are formally notified.
